2022 Tiguan Offers VW’s Latest Driver Safety Tech

The 2022 Tiguan delivers fuel economy, extra cargo room and intelligent driver-assisted technology to help improve road safety and driver awareness.

The base level model of Tiguan includes 17-inch Montana alloy wheels, LED headlights, leather multi-function steering wheel and a multi-function display.

The Tiguan Elegance model with an array of additional comfort and convenience features. The Tiguan R-line model offers a sportier version.

Under the Hood

The 1.5 TSI engine is synced to a 6-speed manual gearbox and generates 96 kW/130 PS02. The 2.0 TDI variant delivers an output of 110 kW/150 PS through a 6-speed manual gearbox or 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.

A front-wheel-drive Tiguan delivers an EPA-estimated 23 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway. The all-wheel-drive delivers a fuel economy of 22 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the expressway.

Comfort and Convenience

Three-row models of Tiguan have 12 cubic feet of space behind the third row, 33 cubic feet behind the second row and 65.3 cubic feet behind the first seats.

The 2-row version has more space for cargo configurations, with 37.6 cubic feet behind the rear seats and 73.4 cubic feet behind the front seats.

Voice recognition controls the Climatronic system and ambient lighting, giving drivers the choice of 30 colors to fit their mood.

Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, built-in navigation and a Wi-Fi hotspot are integrated into an 8-inch infotainment system with touch-sensitive controls.

Safety

IQ.DRIVE is a bundle of driving assistance features included in the VW Tiguan include:

  • Lane Assist: Helps keep the vehicle centered on the road by detecting lane markings.
  • Front Assist: Forward Collision Warning, Autonomous Emergency Braking and Pedestrian Monitoring avoid potential collisions in front of the vehicle.
  • Adaptive Cruise Control: Available system automatically adjusts speed to maintain a safe distance from cars ahead.
  • Active Side Assist (Blind Spot Monitor): Alerts a driver trying to change lanes while another vehicle is in a blind spot. This feature counter-steers the VW Tiguan within the limits of a lane assist.
  • Emergency Assist: An upper trim feature that brings the vehicle to a controlled stop if the driver can no longer operate the vehicle.
  • Travel Assist: A semi-autonomous driving features to help a driver steer, accelerate and brake as long as there are hands on the steering wheel.
