2024 Atlas: Travel In Style With The Whole Troop

Volkswagen's 2024 Atlas delivers a proactive powertrain, upscale interior and safety systems for city and highway driving.

Sculpted from Modular Transverse Matrix architecture, the Atlas is larger than any other vehicle in the VW portfolio. It is 200.7 inches long, 78.7 inches wide and 70.4 inches high.

Expansive three-row seating supports seven passengers and makes it easy to take the entire family to sporting events or other activities.

Standard second-row bench offers a 60/40 split, a 14-degree backrest recline function and 7.7-inch sliding range. An innovative folding mechanism for the second row offers easy entry and exit room, enabling the second-row bench to tilt and slide forward even with child seats in place

Under the Hood

All Atlas models are powered by a new 2.0-liter engine that produces 269 hp and 273 Ib-ft of torque. The change represents an increase of 34 hp and 15 torque output from the previous engine.

Amendments to reduce engine friction include a remodeled balancer shaft design, narrow pump chain, abridged drive chain tensioner and throttle valve that reduces air leakage.

4Motion with the Active Control assists the Camry’s all-wheel-drive system during adverse weather conditions.  The system stabilizes the 2024 Atlas on winding roads and around sharp bends.

Start-Stop technology idles the engine to save money on fuel costs and lowers emissions.

Comfort and Convenience

User controls, front seat flexibility, shifter height and spacing between pedals are designed for a driver's comfort during gridlocks and other traffic slowdowns.

All seating positions offer ample room for passengers. The third row was designed to accommodate adults, offering ample leg and headroom. Each row is fitted with multiple cup holders for occupants to stay hydrated.

USB ports are available in all rows to charge mobile devices on the go.

The new Atlas also has a USB port near the rearview mirror for a dash cam or GoPro to capture family memories or relive the sporting day's excitement.

For the 2024 year, all models are equipped with a 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit Pro configuration.

Features include vehicular status, driving information and a full-screen map center display for families providing away support for their favorite teams to find their way to the stadiums.

Safety

IQ DRIVE uses front and rear radar, a front camera and several ultrasound sensors to collect data and help families stay safe during sport games.

Features include:

  • Travel Assist (semi-automated driving assistance)
  • Adaptive Cruise Control
  • Front Assist (Forward Collision Warning and Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Monitoring)
  • Active Side Assist (Blind Spot Monitor)
  • Rear Traffic Alert

Front Assist warns drivers of potential frontal collisions with vehicles, bicycles and pedestrians. Side Assist uses two radar sensors at the vehicle's rear to caution drivers about cars in adjacent lanes.

The Rear Traffic Alert System reduces the risk of reversing into vehicles or pedestrians. It is beneficial in crowded parking lots and busy stadium areas.

Adaptive Cruise Control automatically adjusts speed to keep a safe distance from vehicles in close proximity to prevent accidents in slow moving traffic.  All models are equipped with six airbags including front and side airbags and side curtain airbags for outboard seating positions.

The 2024 Atlas gets the highest five-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
