The 2024 Volkswagen Atlas–well-designed for year-round family travel and a plethora of interior amenities–offers exterior styling updates, comfortable seating and expansive cargo space.
A cutting-edge collection of in-cabin technologies also earned the SUV top-tier safety ratings, making it the ideal family hauler in unpredictable weather. The 2024 Atlas offers new front fascia and headlights.
A new turbocharged four-cylinder engine has replaced the previous four-and-six-cylinder engine. Also, all models add a heated steering wheel and ventilated front seats. An upgraded 12.0-inch infotainment screen has also exchanged places with the previous 8.0-inch unit.
The 2024 Volkswagen Atlas has six trim levels: SE with Technology, Peak Edition, SE with Technology, SEL, Peak Edition SEL with Technology and SEL Premium R-Line.
Peak Edition is the latest addition to the Atlas family and debuts in exclusive Avocado Green and Pure Gray paint colors. The cabin includes black upholstery contrasted with gray accents and orange stitching.
Exterior design distinctions include a blacked-out trim around the windows, black mirror caps and black roof rails.
Under the Hood
The turbocharged engine of the 2024 Atlas generates 269 hp and 273 Ib-ft of torque.
An eight-speed automatic transmission sends power to the front wheels. VW's 4Motion all-wheel drive system is standard on all models.
Engineers have harnessed the new V6 engine potential, allowing the SUV to attain a zero to 60 mph speed in 8 seconds.
The 2024 Atlas has an EPA rating of 20 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway for front-wheel drive models. All all-wheel drive estimates are 19 mpg city and 26 mpg highway.
Comfort and Convenience
VW's Atlas has comfortable seating for seven occupants. The third row offers plenty of legroom for tall passengers to stretch out and young children to nap.
A storage space behind the third row of seats offers 20.6 cubic feet to load up board games, warm blankets, pillows, winter snacks and other take-alongs for your next family retreat.
Cargo capacity expands to a cavernous 96.8 cubic feet with the second and third rows stowed. The ample room is enough to convey a pop-up camper or rooftop tent for a weekend getaway.
An impressive 5000 Ib towing capacity offers an excellent option for families to haul a small mobile home or tow a trailer loaded with their favorite winter toys. Outdoor enthusiasts can also tuck away a portable grill, camping chairs, winter-friendly sleeping bags and a cooler with provisions for an epic wilderness adventure.
Three-zone climate control sets independent temperature preferences for the driver, front passenger and rear seats. It eliminates the need for constant manual adjustments when occupants are wearing a diverse mix of clothing.
Optional heated outboard seating positions provide instant warmth, especially on frigid mornings or when stepping out of a snowy landscape. The heated seats also let drivers dress without extra layers of bulky clothing that can restrict their comfort and agility behind the steering wheel.
Atlas standard highlights include a 10-way power-adjustable driver seat, heated steering wheel, heated mirrors, adaptive LED headlights, an auto-dimming mirror, Wi-Fi hotspot, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a six-speaker audio system and wireless charging pad.
The features available on higher trims are driver's seat memory settings, a navigation system, heads-up display, hands-free power liftgate, tow-hitch receiver, household power outlet, power-folding mirrors, a premium Harman Kardon setup and a semi-automated parking system.
