Volkswagen's 2024 Tiguan offers a spirited powertrain, refined interior and safety upgrades across the lineup.
The S trim debuts adaptive cruise control with a lane-centering add-on to relieve fatigue and make long distance summer or autumn trips more convenient. Other standard amenities include self-operating high beam headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, wireless charging and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.
VW's MIB3 infotainment system has been enhanced with new multimedia and navigation capabilities. Key features are a larger HD display, integrated cloud-based services and App-Connect which transforms the Tiguan into a mobile entertainment hub for passengers on the move.
The S, SE, SE R-Line Black and SEL R-Line trims are available in seven paint colors.
Colors are Atlantic Blue Metallic, Deep Black Pearl, Platinum Grey Metallic, Pyrite Silver Metallic, Pure White, Opal White Pear and Kings Red.
Under the Hood
VW’s 2024 Tiguan is powered by a 2.0-liter engine that generates 184 hp and 221 Ib-ft of torque. All trims are equipped with a standard eight-speed automatic transmission.
The SUV comes with an automated start/stop technology and conserves fuel consumption in stop-and-go traffic for long distance travels.
The Advanced 4Motion all-wheel drive is optional and helps improve traction. All-wheel drive helps give drivers more road stability on slippery pavement.
Front-wheel drive Tiguan models offer a 15.3-gallon fuel tank; the 4Motion AWD variants offer a larger 15.9-gallon tank. EPA fuel estimates for FWD S models are 24 MPG city / 31 MPG highway (27 mpg combined).
Upper trims with 4Motion AWD achieve an EPA-estimated 22 MPG city/ 29 MPG highway (25 combined MPG). R-Line 4Motion models deliver similar fuel economy of 22 city / 29 mpg highway (24 MPG combined).
Comfort and Convenience
Entry-level Tiguan has a 6.5-inch MIB2 capacitive touchscreen display. The system adds two fast charging ports and Bluetooth technology for compatible devices.
Upper trims feature an MIB3 upgrade with an 8-inch touchscreen. SE and R-Line Black models are fitted with Composition Media. The SEL R-Line offers Discover Media with Navigation.
Composition Media provides advanced navigation features in unfamiliar areas or maneuver through unpredictable weather conditions. Discover Media with Navigation provides accurate maps with turn-by-turn directions and includes driving assistance for drivers during heavy traffic and sudden weather changes.
VW's digital cockpit pro system is available across the Tiguan lineup. S, SE, and SE R-Line Black models include an 8-inch display offering customizable views and widgets with in-depth vehicle information.
The high-end SEL R-Line trim has a 10.25-inch digital cockpit pro interface with four display modes and full-screen navigation.
S, SE and SE-R Line Black trims have a seating capacity of seven people inside a three-row cabin. A 12 cubic foot cargo space offers sufficient space to carry luggage for a day's trip or weekend getaway. Maximum storage area is 65.3 cubic feet for gear, accessories and supplies.
Additional gear may be hauled in a separate trailer. Tiguan has a 1,500 Ib towing capacity.
The base model comes with a six speaker audio unit. Setup includes two front speakers, two rear doors speakers and two front tweeters. SEL R-Line trim elevates the audio experience with a premium sonic system featuring nine speakers, a subwoofer and 480-watt amplifier.
Safety
IQ Drive safety technologies, including adaptive cruise control, lane centering and lane keeping assist is standard on the regular Tiguan.
The 2024 Tiguan provides comprehensive passenger protection with a six-airbag system designed to safeguard occupants from all angles in case of a collision. Other standard features include automatic post-collision braking, forward collision alert with automatic braking, travel assist and a blind spot warning system.
