The 2023 Golf GTI brings a well-honed exterior, proximity comfort and safety-focused technology for spring driving adventure.

A well-weighted steering and adaptive suspension provide excellent traction and cornering capabilities in rainy seasons.

Under the Hood

Engineers have fitted the hatchback with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine with 241 hp and 273 torque performance.

Power is routed to front wheels through a standard 6-speed manual transmission or optional 7-speed clutch automatic.

Fuel economy for the 2023 GTI is an EPA-estimated 24 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway. Models equipped with the manual transmission earn a combined 23/32 mpg.

Comfort and Convenience

Cargo capacity is 19.9 cubic feet which expands to 34.5 cubic feet when the rear seatback is lowered for a  supply stash for a weekend getaway.

The dashboard has two large displays—a 10.3-inch gauge cluster and a 10.0-inch touchscreen that monitors real-time vehicle data.

Low-beam headlights provide illumination on rainy days and fogs where regular headlights might impede visibility.

Overinflated tires are common in spring because of hot temperatures.  In order to avoid the risk of a blowout, a Tire Pressure Monitoring System tells drivers when to gauge their tires.

Safety

During springtime, animals that are less active in cold winter months increase their travel radius for fresh food and water. The warmer weather also brings out more cyclists and pedestrians.

Golf GTI comes with a suite of standard IQ. Drive technology add-ons for anticipating dangers and avoiding accidents in busy traffic scenarios.

2023 standard driver-assistance features:

Features include:

  • Rearview Camera
  • Forward Collision Warning with Pedestrian Detection
  • Forward Automatic Emergency Braking
  • Blind-Spot Monitoring
  • Lane-Keep Assist
  • Rear-Cross Traffic Alert
  • Lane Departure Warning

The 2023 Golf GTI was named  IIHS Top Safety Pick based on "good" ratings in six crashworthiness tests, "acceptable" ratings for headlights and "advanced" scores in front crash prevention tests.
