4MOTION all-wheel drive technology makes it an ideal choice for urban and outdoor touring. While the steering handling is responsive and nimble, the 20-inch wheels provide high-speed stability on tarmac or outback.
Trim levels are available in S, SE and SEL premium. All models are powered by 184-hp 2.0 liter engines mated with 8-speed automatic transmission.
At 185.1 inch in length, the 2021 Tiguan provides an ample 37.6 cubic feet of interior cargo space. Heated and power-adjustable front seats comfortably seat people over 6 feet tall and provide. Rear seats offer 38.7 inches of legroom without a third row installed and 36.5 inches when it is included.
Tiguan has a 3-zone climate control conditioning system, and drivers may change temperature settings with a quick hand swipe without averting eyes from the road.
The 2021 Tiguan comes with an impact-resistant bodyline that prevents noises from filtering into the cabin from outside. Standard infotainment features include: a 6.5-inch touch screen, six speakers, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, a USB port, and a Wi-Fi hot spot.
Smart sensors respond to vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists and stationary obstacles, with activated warnings when a collision seems imminent. A Lane Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control System rouse weary drivers with steering jerks before eventually initiating an emergency stop.
LED headlights offer VW’s IQ.LIGHT matrix to automatically detect oncoming traffic and dim to avoid dazzling other road users.
Proactive Occupant Protection System goes into full-mode when a potential hazard is identified by tightening seatbelts and rolling up windows for safety.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave the 2021 Tiguan the highest rating of Good in all six crashworthiness tests. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave it the ratings of five stars in the side crash test and four stars in the rollover test.
Tiguan’s emergency braking system was also rated “superior” at avoiding crashes with other vehicles.
