The Volkswagen 2023 Jetta displays an athletic-coupe design, spacious passenger space with supportive seating and high-tech safety systems.
A two-slate grille adds a stylish exterior touch and keeps the engine cool by providing optimal ventilation. VW’s Jetta lineup includes S, Sport, SE and SEL models. The 2023 GLI is available in a fully equipped model.
Performance upgrades for the GLI include a sport-tuned suspension, larger brakes and a limited-slip differential.
Under the Hood
Four 2023 Jetta models power their front wheels via a turbocharged 1.5-liter engine with 158 hp and 184 torque production.
Two transmission types are available. The base model is equipped with a standard six-speed manual transmission. An eight-speed automatic is an optional selection.
Jetta GLI comes with a 2.0-liter engine that generates 228 hp and 258 Ib-ft of torque. Power transfers to the front wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission. A seven-speed dual-clutch transmission is optional.
Engineers have reworked the engine for better low-speed torque and fuel economy. The fundamental changes include a cooling module, coated cylinder liners and a new high-pressure injection system.
Comfort and Convenience
Front seats are fitted with six-way adjustable configurations, while SE models add lumbar adjustment features.
Heated front seats are exclusive on SE and GLI models. SEL trims offer ventilated front seats, driver seat memory settings and heated outboard rear seats.
Volkswagen also provides adult-friendly seating in both rows with sufficient head and legroom for passengers. For child safety seat installations, there are two complete sets of LATCH connectors for rear outboard seats and a tether anchor for the back middle seat.
Standard amenities are a 6.5-inch touchscreen, a four-speaker stereo, wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, two USB ports, a Wi-Fi hotspot and an 8-inch digital instrument cluster.
Higher trim features include a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, 8-inch touchscreen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, dual-zone automatic climate control, wireless device charging, a nine-speaker audio stereo and panoramic sunroof.
S, Sport, and SE models are equipped with 8-inch display clusters with two views and customizable widgets.
SEL and GLI models offer a 10.25-inch configurable cockpit with three views. They include full-screen navigation and 21 options for viewing real-time driving data and accessing phone information.
The range-topping SEL and GLI are also equipped with the third-generation MIB3 system which features a glass-covered 8.0-inch display, enhanced voice recognition and fast-charging 45-watt USB ports.
Safety
Standard on all 2023 models is IQ Drive—an advanced suite of driver assistance systems. It uses cameras, radar and ultrasonic sensors to monitor vehicular surroundings and help occupants remain safe.

In collisions, an activated Intelligent Crash Response System shuts off the fuel pump, unlocks the doors and switches on hazard lights.
