Volkswagen's ID.4 has been honored at the 2024 MotorWeek Drivers' Choice Awards.
The all-electric SUV received its second consecutive laurel as "Best EV" after impressing judges with its high-performance options, expansive cabin space and thrilling driving range.
"This is an excellent win for ID.4 and a strong recognition of our vision for an electric future," said Petar Danilovic, Vice President of Volkswagen.”We see this momentum for the ID.4 as a solid base as Volkswagen gets ready to introduce two new EVs later this year.”
Under The Hood
VW ID.4 offers two battery sizes and powertrain options. The base model has a 62 kWh battery for an estimated 209 miles of travel. ID Pro steps up with an 82 kWh battery capable of reaching 275 miles on a single charge.
A single motor powers the rear wheels and generates 201 horsepower. The ID. 4 AWD Pro models add an asynchronous motor to the front axle for a maximum of 295 horsepower.
ID.4 produces zero tailpipe emissions and allows passengers to enjoy a spring ride with the windows rolled down and without exhaust fumes filling the cabin.
The electric SUV offers a cargo space of 30.3 cubic feet ideal for a weekend getaway and bringing along sleeping bags, cooking supplies and several duffel bags.
MotorWeek debuted in 1981 making it the longest-running automotive show on television. It was the first weekly television series to provide consumer-oriented car and truck reviews. The show also offered viewers do-it-yourself car care tips and the latest news from the auto industry.
In its 42nd season, the Drivers' Choice Awards evaluates over 150 cars, trucks and sport utility vehicles annually. The winners are selected based on driving performance, technology, practicality, fuel efficiency and affordability.
"The 2023 ID.4 has more standard tech and better materials in a revised interior. And, to add icing on the cake, VW also lowered the price of entry. When you hear folks bemoaning the lack of affordable, state of the art electric vehicles, do them a favor and point to the Volkswagen ID.4, a MotorWeek Best EV of the Year," said John Davis, host of MotorWeek.
