VW Recognized As Having Lowest Cost of Ownership

Five Volkswagen models recognized for having the lowest maintenance costs, a new study showed.

The study was conducted by Vicentric, a data analytics firm for the automotive industry. It highlighted VWs on-going efforts to reduce vehicle ownership costs.

“Data from this study shows that our brand’s commitment to engineering and quality is paying off,” said Duncan Movassaghi, vice-president for Volkswagen of America “Putting a VW in your driveway is not just a fun decision to make; it’s a smart and sensible one as well.”

Vincentric concluded Jetta, Atlas Family, Arteron, Passat, and Tiguan had the lowest maintenance costs over a five-year tenure compared to competitors in their respective categories.

Among results shown by Vincentric study:

  • The 2021 Atlas Family vehicles have the lowest cost of maintenance in the midsize SUV range. The Atlas Cross Sport ranked tops in this category.
  • 2021 Jetta has the lowest cost of maintenance among compact sedans.
  • 2021 Arteron and Passat models have lower cost of maintenance than major competitors models in the midsize sedan category.
  • 2021 Tiguan has a lower cost of maintenance than competitive vehicles in the compact SUV category.

According to the Volkswagen, the impressive COS ranking is attributable to VW’s Carefree Maintenance program. The program provides scheduled maintenance services at no charge for the first two years or after 20,000 miles for all 2021 vehicles.
