The 2022 Passat features a winning combination of bold design, innovative technology, and ample interior space.
Volkswagen is rolling out its 2022 Passat with three models--SE, R-Line and Limited Edition models. The Limited Edition is embossed with “1 of 1973” designating 1,973 limited editions produced at the manufacturer’s Chattanooga assembly plant.
Under The Hood
Propelled by a 2.0-liter turbocharged and direct-injection engine, the 2022 Passat churns out 174 hp and 206 Ib-ft of torque. Power is distributed to the front wheels through a standard 6-speed automatic transmission with Tiptronic.
Water-cooled exhaust gas routes the cylinder head to the engine, which efficiently reduces full-load fuel consumption.
Comfort & Convenience
VW engineers designed the 2022 Passat with plenty of interior space. The cabin provides ample space and headroom for both front and rear seating.
A color multi-function trip computer monitors estimated fuel consumption, trip distance, Bluetooth connection status for compatible devices and navigation directions.
Additional features include: KESSY keyless access and push-button start, dual-zone Climatronic automatic climate control, rain-sensing windshield wipers and an automated dimming rearview mirror.
Twin MIB2 touchscreen infotainment systems display a capacitive-touch sensor that enables controls like swiping and pinch-zooming.
App-Connect smartphone integration for compatible devices offers users the ability to select smartphone apps directly from the vehicle’s display through services like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink.
Safety
The 2022 Passat features six frontal and side airbags for front passengers and side curtain airbags for outboard seating positions.
Volkswagen’s Automatic Post-Collision Braking System applies the brakes when a primary collision is detected by airbag sensors. The Intelligence Crash Response System shuts off the fuel pump, unlocks the doors and switches on hazard lights in event of an accident.
The Rear Traffic Alert system is intended to detect vehicles approaching from the side that may be difficult for the driver to see while reversing. The system offers a 180-degree view of the car’s back with a range of 65 feet. It delivers a visual and acoustic warning if a potential collision is detected.
