VW’s Tiguan Goes Big For 2018

The 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan expands on the character of the current version with a redesign that specifically caters to the needs of American customers. That means a more spacious and sophisticated interior, versatile seating and a high-tech infotainment and available driver-assistance features to keep drivers (and their passengers) safe and satisfied.

Under the Hood

An updated 2.0-liter TSI® engine and eight-speed automatic transmission comes standard on the 2018 Tiguan. The sedan is powered by an advanced version of Volkswagen’s EA888 four-cylinder engine. This innovative turbocharged four-cylinder, features direct-injection and offers an improved combination of power, efficiency and responsiveness.

The peak 184 horsepower kicks in at 4,400 RPM and maintains that output through 6,000 RPM. A maximum torque of 221 pound feet is achieved at 1,600 to 4,300 RPM and new TSI injectors can push fuel into the cylinder at a higher maximum pressure.

Comfort and Convenience

The 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan goes big for 2018, with 58 percent more cargo space than the current model.

Contemporary, high-quality designs pair with a sporty, driver-focused layout inside the Tiguan. Gloss-grey and chrome details accent a multi-function steering wheel and cloth seats. Tiguan SE and SEL models include heated leatherette seating surfaces along with a leather-wrapped steering wheel, while the SEL Premium brings leather seating surfaces for the first and second rows.

SE, SEL and SEL Premium models come equipped with a glass-covered eight inch touchscreen display. The new display is brighter than previous generation of MIB II and also offers better color reproduction, response time and improved viewing angles.

Safety

Front- and side-impact airbags protect the driver and passengers, and side curtain airbags provide protection for all occupants in the event of a rollover crash.

All Tiguan models boast Volkswagen’s advanced Intelligent Crash Response System that automatically cuts off the fuel pump, unlocks the doors and switches on the hazard warning lights when the airbags deploy.
