Volkswagen’s 2024 Taos delivers an upscale exterior design, impressive interior space and hands-on safety technologies for autumn family adventures.
The 5-seater SUV is available in S, SE, SE Black and SEL trims. All models feature upgraded interior stitching and come equipped with IQ Drive driver-assist technology.
Front-wheel drive is standard on S and SE trims with all-wheel drive available on the SEL model. The S variant includes Light Assist, rain-sensing wipers, automatic high beams and a heated leatherette-wrapped steering wheel.
VW’s new SE Black model features a sleek darkened exterior with a black roof and black wheels. SE models receive an upgraded dual-zone automatic climate control system.
Under the Hood
The 2024 Taos is equipped with a 1.5-liter engine that delivers 158 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque.
Front-wheel drive models are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, achieving an EPA-estimated 28city/36highway and 31 mpg combined. All-wheel drive trims feature a seven-speed clutch automatic transmission and also offer an EPA fuel economy rating of 24city/32highway and 27 mpg combined.
AWD models come with three driving selections. Normal and Sport modes offer light steering weight and throttle sensitivity, while Individual mode empowers drivers to personalize steering or throttle response functions.
Volkswagen’s 4Motion with Active Control is designed to proactively engage before wheelspin occurs. A sophisticated control unit determines optimal drive torque for rear wheels and regulates the multi-plate clutch’s engagement by activating the oil pump.
The cutting-edge system enhances fuel efficiency by minimizing rear wheel workload when the SUV maintains a consistent speed.
Comfort and Convenience
All 2024 Taos models feature touchscreen infotainment systems with smartphone-like capacitive-touch responses. S trims are fitted with a 6.5-inch display supplemented with two 45-watt charging ports and Bluetooth technology for compatible devices.
SE and SEL SUVs have 8-inch glass-covered displays with Composition Media and Discover Media navigation systems respectively. Both models come with wireless charging, Bluetooth technology, voice recognition, multi-phone pairing and multiple USB ports.
SE models add remote start, dual-zone automatic climate control, 8-way power driver seat with lumbar, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, heated side mirrors, heated washer nozzles and privacy glass.
An advanced Digital Cockpit system is standard across the Taos lineup. S models offer an 8-inch display with dual-view capabilities and customizable widgets that showcases a wide range of vehicular information. SE and SEL vehicles receive 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit Pro upgrades with full-screen navigation and four viewing options.
Three speaker configurations deliver an immersive and enjoyable listening experience for family road trips during the autumn season. The entry-level Taos features a four-speaker soundbox. SE models upgrade to six speakers while SEL trims are equipped with an audio setup with eight speakers, 400-watt amplifier and subwoofer.
Car-Net Services for 2024 models offer three core features: Remote Access, Safe & Secure and Hotspot. The Remote Access package comes with a five-year free trial access and includes remote start, automatic crash alerts and last parked location technologies. Taos vehicles with a paid subscription can unlock additional online features like enhanced navigation and infotainment.

All 2024 Taos models are equipped with Volkswagen’s IQ Drive. A suite of advanced driver assistance technologies designed to prevent accidents, mitigate collisions and reduce the stress of long-distance driving during autumn family travels.
